Tom Mackellar.
I design and produce short commercial motion ads — product spots, brand pieces — and I run the whole process myself: brief, storyboard, shot direction, production, and delivery. One person, the same discipline a studio would apply.
How I work
Every project starts the same way: a real creative brief, locked before anything is produced — the world, the light, the camera moves, the exact wording of any on-screen text. From there it’s storyboarded shot by shot, produced, and reviewed like dailies — nothing ships on the first pass if it doesn’t hold up. The Kindred Skin case study on the Portfolio page is a real example: the first cut came back with notes, and the version shown is the revised one.
The production itself runs through modern generative video tools, directed shot by shot — storyboarded, lit, blocked, and revised — rather than typed once and accepted as-is. It’s a real production pipeline, not a single prompt.
“…nothing ships on the first pass if it doesn’t hold up.”
Background
This is an ongoing, repeatable production practice, not a one-off — each new piece builds on the same process and the same growing set of techniques.
